Adult Braces Journey – Lower Braces

With my upper teeth in a more appropriate alignment, it was time to fit the lower braces. So again, I was plonked into the chair, reclined back and told to relax.  Relax…uh-huh….you have wizzy dentist things in my mouth again…as if! The good thing is that I knew all about the pumice, conditioner, wash process.  It is over quite quickly again, it just seeeeeems like forever when you are sitting there. Orthodontic Congress – Sydney Here We Come!

I was very excited to be attending the International Orthodontic Congress in Sydney with the rest of the MOG team.  Not the least of which was because I now had a set of upper braces that I could show off with pride, rather than hide my rotated teeth as I mingled with industry professionals. I was also excited for the things that I would learn from attending some of the lectures.  Whilst I am not part of the nursing team at MOG, I certainly have a newfound appreciation for the orthodontic process as I am experiencing it first hand. Adult Braces Journey – My First ‘real’ Wire

Up until now the wires I have had in place have been fairly thin and round.  When they are put into the brackets there is a bit of a tighter feeling, and a slight return of the tender feeling, but this quickly passes. Today I was to receive my first thicker square profiled wire…we’re starting on the business end of the tooth movement now and Dr Levinson is calling in the cavalry.
