A quick 5 with Dr Levinson:
- What was the defining moment that lead to your decision to specialize in orthodontics?
My mother took me to the orthodontist at 12 years of age to correct my protruding teeth. The orthodontist was very well regarded and rather elderly, much like a grandfather. “So Daniel,” he asked “what seems to be the problem with your teeth?” Before I could answer, my mother responded, “ He doesn’t like the way they protrude”. He turned to my mother and said “Now shut up mum, and speak when you are spoken to”. I instantly recognized the power of a well regarded, elderly orthodontist with hairy ears. I was impressed, nobody had spoken to my mother like that before and got away with it! It was a defining moment. I am working on the ears, I guess elderly will take care of itself! - What is the worst part of your day? Rappers on the TV!
- What gives you the biggest buzz about your work? The smiles of happy patients and the appreciation of a great result.
- Looking back, if you could give your 13-year-old self one piece of advice, what would you say? Take up golf while you are young, it will save you a lifetime of anguish!
- What’s your favorite holiday destination and why? Jackson Hole Wyoming – the best skiing in the world, the coolest dudes, the cutest moose, and mountains of untracked powder snow.
