Having proudly made it through 16 months of treatment without once breaking bending or dislodging anything, I was mortified when Henry informed me that he had heard a ‘click’ and asked me to check a bracket for him. Yes, it had in fact unstuck itself from his tooth…oh the shame! I was pleased that it happened before we left the practice for Henry’s sake as I could not then point any blame fingers that he ‘must have done something wrong’…I mean what naughty teenager would eat the wrong foods and cause a breakage huh? If there is one thing I should have learned throughout this whole experience, it is that these guys know what they are talking about! My wonderful 24 hours of appliance free mouth was soon to be shattered with the collection of…’The Retainer”. Yes, it was a stunning purple glittery number, resplendent with teddy bear sticker embedded in it….but it seems to take up a very very large amount of space inside my mouth!
