I have to say that I am suitably impressed.  This was a boy who is blessed with not brushing his teeth as regularly as normal people do, and yet receives glowing reports of healthy gums and teeth from the dentist every time.  Even Monique who prepared his teeth for braces when quizzed on his oral hygiene said it was great, and if he kept doing what he was doing with the braces on it would be good. My dear son, whom I shall refer to as ‘Henry’ (because that is his name)  has just turned 15 and made the decision that he would go ahead with the braces.  The lucky devil inherited some of his mother’s orthodontic issues, and he is also the proud grower of one extra wide lateral incisor – apparently a reasonably uncommon phenomenon. Part of the problem of misaligned teeth is that they can be more vulnerable to knocks and chipping.  That is exactly what happened with my front teeth that crossed over – the tooth that angled in had a vulnerable edge that the years have not been kind to.
